COURSE DESCRIPTION
This entry-level 2-day workshop introduces essential computer skills for beginners. Students will learn how to set up and use a personal computer, manage files, send and receive emails, browse the internet, use devices such as printers, apply basic security settings, and safely back up and shut down a computer.
This non-accredited course is delivered face-to-face by experienced trainers at Western Sydney Skills Hub, North Parramatta. A participation record will be issued upon successful completion.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- Set up and prepare a personal computer
- Manage basic computer settings and configurations
- Use common application programs
- Use peripheral devices such as printers
- Safely shut down a computer
PREREQUISITE
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, it is expected that you have adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills and computer skills to be able to interact with peers, trainers and access to a Windows operated computer or laptop at home or at your workplace to practice lessons.
LEARNING METHOD
Training is delivered in a classroom environment and includes demonstrations, discussions, case studies, and hands-on practice using the Windows platform.
RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS
Learner manuals are provided. Students will need access to a computer and internet for practice and research.
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY
A NSW Government subsidy may be available for eligible students under the Adult and Community Education (ACE) program.
